Situated at mountainside of Mount Mbeliling, Melo is the best option to visit for a short daytime when you have nothing else to do in Labuan Bajo Komodo. Being at the village you can enjoy a spectacular view over to the Komodo National Park, to see chain of small islands with blue sea surrounding them. In the sunset hours, being on the hill of Melo is a must! The sunset here is phenomenal.
The people of Melo rely their daily routine on farming such as coffee plantation, bananas, pineapple, durian, hazelnut and other more. Having a close look at their traditional way of planting or harvesting their crops offers a special experience. In recent years, Melo people regularly introduce special occasions performing Caci Dance – Manggaraian traditional whip dance. Tourists often come here to watch their show on the dance as well as part of the ceremonies related to the dance.
